How To Convert Xerox Scanning Address Book to Sharp Scanning Address Book

If you are replacing a Xerox copier/printer/scanner with a Sharp multi-function printer, there are a few things you can do to make your life easier.

  1. Print a configuration page from the Xerox and use the same network settings. If the Xerox is leaving the network completely the simplest thing to do is mimic the network settings so the Sharp will work to print, for the most part, immediately after the transition.
    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • IP Gateway
    • DNS
    • SMTP
    • LDAP – if setup
  2. Export the email addresses in the scanning address book from the Xerox, and import them into your new Sharp. This will only work with newer Sharp models (2016 and newer) that will accept a CSV file import. The older models use .bin files and they are encrypted to only go to and from Sharp devices. Skelton Business Equipment has a handy set of instructions for converting the Xerox address book to the Sharp.

  6. Open the Template file you just downloaded from the link above, and paste these names into the “name” column, and into the “search-string” column.
  7. Go back to the exported Xerox file, and copy the entire list of email addresses and then go back to the Sharp template file and paste them into the “mail-address” column.
